About us

Long Island Wildlife and Animal Rescue is a not-for-profit 501 (3)(C) that provides medical and surgical care to injured wildlife and animal rescues. Medical care and treatment is solely provided by Massapequa Pet Vet.

LIWAR and Pet Vet have dedicated doctors and over ten licensed rehabilitators with experience in treating wildlife and provide their expertise and compassion to injured animals.

We need your help and contributions to continue our mission and goal to provide desperately needed service to those who can’t speak for themselves. LIWAR saves hundreds of squirrels, opossums, raccoons, turtles, hawks, falcons, foxes, pigeons, seagulls, geese, ducks, and swans among others annually.

Most LIWAR domesticated animals are adoptable, depending on their past experiences with owners and the status of their medical condition. At LIWAR, we are dedicated to supplying these animals with “furever” homes. If you are interested in adopting, you may contact us at longislandwar@yahoo.com or call us at 516-797-8387, but you must fully expect the possibility of participating with an interview or being turned down altogether. We care for and love all the animals we treat and want to give them the best future possible.
